This young, energetic six-piece outfit perform an exciting mixed selection of Eastern European and traditional Jewish klezmer music, and when required, can include in their line-up an experienced specialist ‘dance-caller’ to supervise an organised klezmer version of a ceilidh or barn dance.

Klonk Klezmer Band is comprised of six musicians, each passionate about various different genres of music. However, Jewish Klezmer and the associated gypsy folk music and dancing, which owes its roots to Eastern European culture and tradition, has always held a particularly special place in their hearts. Demonstrating exceptional flair and talent, these musicians recreate the authentic and traditional sounds of Eastern Europe by employing traditional klezmer instrumentation. Their repertoire includes a varied selection of emotive and sonorous songs together with clever and effective arrangements of catchy, up-beat traditional instrumental tunes in a style that will immediately appeal to a wide range of audiences.
The instrumental line-up revolves around a busy topline of fiddle, clarinet and vocals, ably supported and augmented by accordion, bouzouki and ‘cello. Available for a wide range of events, the guys are equally at home entertaining at a wedding reception or performing on a festival stage.
Klonk Klezmer are entirely acoustic, and therefore as none of their instruments require electrical power, the band would make a fine and flexible addition to an outdoor event. For the musical purist, influences of Eastern European gypsy music and Northern Mediterranean folk elements can readily be discerned in both their repertoire and their style of performance. Presenting such an exciting and eclectic musical programme, and so energetically performed, Klonk Klezmer Band can be guaranteed to keep you and all your guests up on your feet on the dancefloor all night long!

The standard Klonk Klezmer repertoire includes all of the most well-known and popular Klezmer and Jewish songs, dance-tunes and melodies. Expect to hear classics such as Freylekh, Bulgas, Hora, Terkisher, Khosidl, Honga, Patsh, Runde, Sher and Breton waltz, to name but a few.
